- THE BACKGROUND -
Family: He has a mom and a dad. And a little brother named Carson that he doesn’t like. It’s not that his family is abusive or anything; they’re just annoying in their willingness to “work things out”.
His father, Randall, yells at him a lot. Usually when Milo’s crying. Something about toughening up or facing fears or getting the fuck out of the house.
Sarah, his mother and Randall’s legal wife, does not yell at him. He’s closer to his mother than any of his friends. But not in any incestuous sexual taboo kind of way. Not that he has a problem with that, it’s just not his thing.
Really, he can’t wait to move out, and will take any opportunity to do so. He just can’t without being legal age.
History: In kindergarten he said Pokemon was stupid and everything went downhill from there. He’d only said it because he didn’t get the channel, too, so it was really an unfair discrimination. But for the rest of his academic life, he was an outcast. Milo was always the kind of person that attracted people, made them feel safe (on an irrelevant note, these are the qualities of a good stalker or sexual predator), but without the approval of the top of the school’s social hierarchy, potential friends would abandon any desire to associate with him.
This continued into junior high and later high school, both of which contained a majority of the students he’d known in grade school. He was never directly ridiculed, but concocted glaring eyes and little whispers of his name from classmates. Fearing rejection, he focused on studies, and achieved in his classes.
Now, as he moves to a new town and attends a new school, he hopes to wipe the slate clean and fit in with the crowd.
Their View on Life: He’s thought about it a lot, and has come to the conclusion that he’s all about casual determinism. Milo strongly believes that everything, every little occurrence, is the result of an intricate cause-and-effect scenario beginning at the first, infinite second that the universe was set in motion. And yet, knowing this, he’s still terrified by social situations.
Personality: He’s a sweetie. Sort of. Yeah, he’ll do what you ask, and won’t resent you for it. He’ll do anything, actually. Ask him to be your drug mule and after a bit of petty protest, you can count on him. He lives to please.
But really he lives to get ahead. He tells himself he’s making connections, he’s letting people know that he’s a good guy. A trustworthy guy. And in truth, he is, but he has an uncanny way of getting what he wants.
He really does want people to like him, though. ‘Connection’ or not.
Milo is a slacker. He rarely turns in homework, finding better things to do. His high marks are due to his ability to test well, and his fact-retaining mind.
He's also fairly complacent. He only gets ahead of the game when it's necessary, and is in this way (and others) a very analytical person.
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual as far as he knows. He’s never had enough confidence in himself to explore his preferences.
Health: Anxiety, paranoia. Sees a therapist regularly. Refuses to take medication.
