Name: Hel, Daughter of Loki, Demi-God and Princess of the People and Monsters of the Underworld
Age: 16
Race: Demi-God.
Height: 5' 6"
Weight: 114 lbs
Appearance: Hel has raven-black hair, that reflects just about any color with fluorescent light, and reflects blue in daylight. Her skin's incredibly pale, so much in fact one could see through the milky paleness right into her veins. It seems as if Hel grew up in pure darkness, not one to be within sunlight. But she also carries the constant pale blush of freckles nearly every Norse woman has on her cheek bones and arms. Hel's face is also adorned with chains and earrings, all silver or black pearls. Her eyelids are painted silver, with heavy black outlining. There's also blue Runes painted all down her bare arms, making a sort of indistinct design.
Hel's attire is made from a pitch black cape that comes down in two layers, with raven feathers coating the inside. Under it she has a dark blue priestess-style dress, complete with jewelery and chains, idolizing the raven and moon. Her fingers have dozens of rings, all silver bands with either black pearls or sapphires in their surface and Norse Runic writing on their insides.
History: Hel, one of the various children of Loki, lived in the Underworld her whole life. The Underworld, a special world where it is constantly night, is a gruesome, tricky place. To survive through such a world is not only physically demanded, but such a psychotic torture nearly all its inhabitants are insane. The world's ruler, Loki, claims to be a God. He marries various wives, and produces many children, his Demi-gods, his princes and princesses. Hel was one of the unlucky few to be birthed to Loki, and from her oddly dark (for many of the unfortunate Underworlders appear as a Greecian might; dark skinned and fair haired) appearance he took her under his immediate reign.
Hel was raised as any rich, spoiled child would be. She was given a slave-boy, many years younger than her, and an Overwatcher, an elderly woman whose eyes had been burnt from her skull. Hel was given riches and jewels from birth, the sweetest and best cooked food Loki could find. Hel was never, however, given love, though she somehow learned compassion and tried to help the citizens of the Underworld as best she could. Though Loki frowned on this and taught Hel that such sympathy would only get her killed, Hel, like many free-spirited daughters and sons had done before her, disobeyed Loki and fled.
The rich child cannot remember much after her attempted escape. Only that great beasts from the sky -who took the appearance as a raven-bodied yet with the breasts and head of a woman- flew from the sky and snatched Hel up. They took her back to Loki, who threw her into a prison. Though the daughter of the God was still given fine clothing and eloquent dining, she was shackled and barred from any freedom. He no longer taught her their Runic scripts, he no longer showed her fancy flowers or imported animals. He did not give her fancy weapons and masters of fighting to play with. She was, in essence, shunned from the Loki family.
And so, when the dreadful monsters made from greed and hate (Heartless) embodied themselves into inky critters with yellow moon eyes, she threw herself to them. Screaming, wanting the torment her father had so often was become upon the world. Hel shrieked at them to eat the blackness from her heart and leave nothing but the shimmer silver of spirit. And while they consumed her, Hel didn't feel pain or suffering. She felt... numbness. Absolute nothingness... And once blackness took over, Hel found herself very unsure.
Once Hel, Daughter of Loki, Demi-God and Princess of the People and Monsters of the Underworld, awoke, she found herself in a very... foreign place. She was accustomed to heat, but never to the temperature this place served! So, she wandered for a little while into a town. Or, what she supposed was a town. It seemed deserted. Except for a very... inadequate building. At least it had faces. So, Hel entered, wondering if this was the sort of "torture" father had long preached.
Personality: Hel's quite curious, and adventurous. She's also compassionate, yet shy and unskilled with conversation. She often holds herself upon a high horse, being brought up as royalty. And while she owns sympathy for others, Hel does not know how to carry it through, or show that she holds much of any emotions at all. In the Underworld, it had been considered a weakness, so Hel shows herself void of anything but pride and a royal air. She is subject to prejudice thoughts and emotions, but mainly never means harm. Hel's wary of fights, and while she tries to stray from them, is fierce and unrelenting once tempered with. Inside the Princess is a hidden revolt, all the anger bottled up, building and waiting to be released...
Though, along side such anger, is also her love. She has never known she's felt it, or joy, but it exists.
Weapon Names: Skuld, Urd and Verdandi
Weapon Description:
Skuld: Named after one of the three Norns, or Goddesses of Destiny, Skuld represents the future. It is in the shape of a red battle fan and is Hel's favorite weapon. The framing is metal gold-leafed to look pure. At the end is a massive tassel with hairs plucked from the damned in her father's domain. It's fabric between the frames is tanned skin of the human betrayers to Loki, painted black with white-green embroidering.
Urd: Named after one of the three Norns, or Goddesses of Destiny, Urd means fate and is responsible for the past. This weapon takes place in the shape of a falx. The two handed falx is clearly related to the Thracian rhomphaia. It is a derivative of both the sword and the spear, having evolved from a spear to a pole arm before becoming more drastically curved to facilitate a superior cutting action. This drastic curve rendered the falx as a purely offensive weapon to be used against a broken or routing force. Typically, an enemy would be broken by a sustained hail of missile fire from javelin, dart, bow, sling, and stone throwing troops before being chased down and cut to pieces by the falx wielding troops.
Verdandi: Verdandi was named after one of the three Norns, or Goddesses of Destiny, Verdandi means necessity and represented the present. She is taken into the form of a caltrop attached to a black coiled chain. A caltrop is a weapon made of two or more sharp nails/spines arranged so one always points up from a stable base. They're made to slow down horses, war elephants and human troops. It's also effective against the feet of camels.
Likes: Sweets, weapons, Loki, darkness, night, and heroes.
Dislikes: Daylight, brightness, Valkyries, villains, spicy foods.
